PROCUREMENT INTEGRITY CONSULTATIONS WORKSHOP

The Ministry of Local Government in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority under the Resource Enhancement and Accountability Programme (REAP) conducted a Procurement Integrity consultation workshop at Iganga Municipal Headquarters on 26th November 2020.

The facilitators were officials from the Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority who were meeting with Contractors, procurement officers, Contracts committee members, all heads of departments, Town clerk, Municipal Mayor and Civil Organizations.

Mr. Ahamed Ismail who represented the permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government in his speech said that the procurement process should be transparent to very one.

Mr. Okou Patrick the officer from Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) highlighted some of the procurement issues in the annual report of the auditor General for the year ended 30th June 2019. He also talked about the pillars for Integrity which are as follows:

  • Transparency
  • Governance
  • Ethics
  • Value for money

Ms. Atuhaire Brenda the officer from Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) in her presentation also highlighted some of the procurement issues raised in the procurement and disposal Audit report for the year ended June 2019.
