BUDGET CONFERENCE 2021-2022

Iganga municipal council held the annual budget conference on 12th November 2020 at Iganga municipal council head quarters.

In attendance was His worship Mayor Balaba David, Deputy Mayor, Honorable councilors, Town clerk Mr. Alikwan Ayub kisubi, Heads of department, Technical staff and Manager Stanbic bank.

Head of departments such as Works, Education, Production and Natural resource presented their work plans highlighting some of the achievements and challenges for over the last five years.

The manager Stanbic bank Mrs. Mwesigwa Harriet in her speech said that she is going to work with the municipal council to ensure that youth access loans at low rates.

The Town clerk Mr. Alikwan Ayub kisubi in his speech also welcomed members to the annual Budget Conference that kick started the budget preparation process for FY 2021/2022.

The Town clerk also said that the main areas of focus as Iganga Municipal Council shall be in the following areas.

  • Improvement on Garbage Management. Emphasis shall be put on ensuring that Division Collect Garbage and dispose it effectively.
  • Relatedly, the Municipal Council shall ensure that all Garbage Trucks are repaired for effective Service Delivery.
  • Improving on the status of our road network with emphasis on Tarmacking, gravelling and opening of our major roads.

It should be noted that already Saaza Road works have kick started and Tarmacking of also Mpindi Road will soon be completed.

NB.The Central Government has allocated 15KMs of Tarmac and the Roads to be worked upon have been identified by Engineering Department. With Focus on those in the Central Business area and outside.

  • The Municipal Council shall also focus on completion of Office Block to provide a conducive atmosphere for her staff.
  • We also intend to re-organize the entire Business Community of Iganga in order to create trade order in the Municipal Council.
  • Organization of the Business Community and the wenainch in order to benefit from the existing Government Programme such as Emyooga, SAGE & PWD Grants.
  • Continue to mobilize the community i.e Youth and Women’s to benefit from YLP, and UWEP Programmes.
  • Recruit new staff within provision of our Budget for better service delivery.
  • The Municipal Council shall continue to sensitize the community on Covid-19 and Enforcement of the Covid-19 SOPs. Etc.
  • Mobilization and collection of revenue in both Divisions.
  • Continue to guide the community in development of Town and Enforcement of the Building Standards.
  • Mobilization and guiding of the Community to form SACCOs for income generation purposes.
  • Provision of Day- today health Services to the community.
